One person of Chinesse origin has been secluded to a private camp in Mutomo South, Kitui County after being noticed to be suffering signs and symptoms that were suspected to be of Coronavirus Infection.
Confirming the incident, Kitui County Government Minister of Health Dr. Richard Muthoka said he sent his officers to the Chinesse construction site yesterday, 17th February, but they were denied access.
The suspected person is among 14 other contractors that are building the Kibwezi-Mutomo road and had travelled to China and he is the first and only one to come back to the country.
Dr. Muthoka, however, said that he has requested security personnel to accompany his officers to the construction site for more details.
“With the help of the National government, the County’s ministry of health will ensure intense examinations, I ask residents not to panic,” he noted.
He further stated that he advised his officers to strictly ensure that residents don’t come close to the secluded area where the infected person is kept.
Revealing that he has sent the Mutomo Sub-County medical officer are on the ground, he promised to update residents on the results of the after tests are done.
He also urged the residents to report any suspicious case they come across to the County’s ministry of Health offices to ensure safety to all from the deadly virus.
