A man has been arrested by Nigerian customs service at the Murtala Mohammed International airport , Lagos while trying to board an Emirates airlines flight to Dubai in possession of 2,886 ATM (automated teller machine) cards.
Deputy controller of customs , NMIA Area command , Abdulmumin Bako , made this disclosure while handing over the suspect to the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) in Lagos.
The suspect was apprehended during outward screening of the passenger. The cards where concealed inside a box of noodles.
The suspect who identified himself as Ishaq Abubakar with passport number Ao8333717 arrived Lagos from Kano state.
Bako said “At about 11:45 am on August 22, 2020, at the departure hall Gate “B’ of the MMIA, Abubakar with passport number A08333717 from Kano State traveling to Dubai via Emirates flight was intercepted with 2,886 ATM and four SIM cards by our officers on duty.
“The ATM cards and SIM cards were carefully concealed in noodles carton,” he said.
