At least two people were killed and four others injured in an attack allegedly by members of IPOB on Hausa community in Oyigbo, Oyigbo LG of Rivers state, according to BBC Hausa, London.
In an interview with the BBC correspondent, the leader of Hausa people in south east, Nigeria, Alhaji Musa Sa’idu, IPOB members shot five and stabbed four of their people, out of whom two died, on Sunday.
Alhaji Musa further told the BBC that this was the fifth time Hausa people were attacked in the area.
However, the Hausa leader appealed to his people in the north not to embark on a reprisal on the Igbo living in the region.
When contacted, the IPOB lawyer dissociated his clients from the attack, saying that it was carried out by some people who wanted to spoil the image of IPOB.
Although the Rivers state police command did not release the casualty figure, it confirmed the attack.
