Kyle Walker is facing a disciplinary action from Manchester city after Breaking of UK Government’s rule on social distancing amid Coronavirus pandemic.
The England defender has apologized for his actions after it was widely reported that he held a party at his home last week.
I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choice I made last week which has resulted in a Story today about my private life in a tabloid newspaper” Walker’s statement reads.
I understand my position as professional footballer brings a responsibility of being a role model. As such I want to apologise to my family, friends, football club supporters and the public for letting them down.
There are heroes out there making vital difference to society at moment and I have been Keen to help support and highlight their Amazing sacrifice and saving – work over the pass week.
My actions in this matter in direct contrast to what I should have been doing regarding the Lockdown. And I want to reiterate the message stay Home, Stay Safe.
A Club message read: “Manchester City FC are aware of the story in Tabloid newspaper regarding the private life of Kyle Walker in relation to the breach of the UK Lockdown and Social distancing Rules.
Footballers are Globally Role models, players and our staff have been working to support the incredible effort of the NHS and other key workers in fighting the effect of Covid-19 Coronavirus, in any way we can. Kyle’s action in this matter have directly contravene these efforts.
We are disappointed to hear the allegations, note Kyle’s swift statement and apology, and will be conducting the internal disciplinary procedure in the coming days.
