Seven patients who had been on treatment for the coronavirus at the Isolation Centre in Abuja have recovered, and have been discharged.
This was contained in a statement released by the FCT minister, Muhammad Bello on Tuesday.
Bello, who commended health professionals for their dedication, expressed optimism that 39 other patients who are still on admission in the facility would also be discharged soon.
“I am delighted to announce that the first set of patients, totalling 7, are ready to be discharged after their final tests results returned negative.
“Also, our dedicated and exceptional medical staff are doing their best to ensure the recovery and discharge of the remaining 39 patients. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts and we will always continue to encourage and support them,” the statement read.
Similarly, the index case of COVID-19 in Rivers state has also been discharged after receiving treatment for two weeks at the isolation centre in Eleme. The 19-year-old female model travelled to France, Italy and Greece before returning to Port Harcourt last month.
